updated 9th April 2020

The Village Society, BB Online and the Parish Council continue to strive to keep you updated with useful information through these difficult times.

The Village Helpline appears to be working well, receiving on average 1-2 calls a day which are very ably being covered by our volunteers.  Should you know of any villagers who might benefit from help or do not know how to access it, would you please pass on the information given in this bulletin.

We are attempting to make these updates as concise as possible but as our circulation list is now wider than purely Village Society Members, we have repeated some of the information to ensure it reaches as many people as possible.

Please find details and links below to new and updated information:

  • Plant Sales have been arranged in the Village, beginning in May, and will compensate a little for the loss of the Plant and Cake Sale and the Plant sales at the Village Fete.

  • Wellbeing - links to exercises to help us keep fit while we are isolating.

  • Entertainment – click here to view the full information sheet or choose 'Coronavirus Help - Village Info and Support' in the Menu Bar above.

The Church, with 12th Century origins, lies at the heart of the village and the chiming of the clock and the ringing of the bells remind everyone of its existence. A welcoming place for all to visit.

The School, recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted (2019), has occupied an important place in the heart of the Village since 1865 and extensively rebuilt in 1992.

The Library is run and managed by “Friends of Burton Bradstock Library” volunteers, with support from Dorset Council.  Our library is located by the village green and is a friendly place to visit.

Owned by the WI, the hall is run by the Village Hall Trust Committee who are responsible for its upkeep, financial probity and day to day management. The vast majority of events in the Village take place in the Village Hall which can be rented for a small fee subject to availability.

With over 280 members the Burton Bradstock Village Society is one of the best ways to meet people.

Usually, at this time of year, we would be enjoying Monthly Talks and looking forward to the Annual Outing and Flower and Produce Show.  Sadly, this is not the case just now.  We hope normal service will resume before too long.

The Festival would have celebrated its 40th Anniversary in August. Sadly, in the circumstances, the decision has been made to cancel this year's event.
