BURTON BRADSTOCK CORONAVIRUS SUPPORT

updated 3rd July 2020

With the easing of Lockdown, we anticipate there being fewer regular Bulletins whilst continuing to keep Villagers informed (through the Website and the Notice Boards outside the Reading Room and Library) of the most up-to-date information.

The design of the front page of the Website will be changing and you will see at the top a Bulletin Board with Post-its which will link to the latest news and what is happening in the Village.

Post-Lockdown Services

We are aware that many of us will continue using local services in much the same way after Lockdown. From those businesses which have replied, Graham Moody has compiled an updated list of Local Business Services and Delivery Services from further afield. These two documents are also available on the Reading Room and Library Notice Boards.

The Village Society will continue to operate the Helpline phone and email address, reviewing the situation at the end of July.  Please call 07425 412105 or email burtonbradstockvillage help@gmail.com.

Library Book Returns

Rose Daniels’ most recent update concerning the Library can be seen using the link on the Post-It Bulletin Board above and would remind you that the door will be open again on Saturday 4th July for the return of books between 10 and 11am. If you can’t make it, all current loans will be extended until 1st September 2020.

Click on Coronavirus Help in the Menu Bar above to access current links.

ST MARY'S CHURCH

The Church, with 12th Century origins, lies at the heart of the village and the chiming of the clock and the ringing of the bells remind everyone of its existence. A welcoming place for all to visit.

VILLAGE SCHOOL

The School, recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted (2019), has occupied an important place in the heart of the Village since 1865 and extensively rebuilt in 1992.

COMMUNITY LIBRARY

The Library is run and managed by “Friends of Burton Bradstock Library” volunteers, with support from Dorset Council.  Our library is located by the village green and is a friendly place to visit.

VILLAGE

HALL

Owned by the WI, the hall is run by the Village Hall Trust Committee who are responsible for its upkeep, financial probity and day to day management. The vast majority of events in the Village take place in the Village Hall which can be rented for a small fee subject to availability.

VILLAGE

SOCIETY

With over 280 members the Burton Bradstock Village Society is one of the best ways to meet people.

Usually, at this time of year, we would be enjoying Monthly Talks and looking forward to the Annual Outing and Flower and Produce Show.  Sadly, this is not the case just now.  We hope normal service will resume before too long.
