BB FILMS

On the last Friday of the month from September to May the recent and most popular films in the national cinemas are shown in the village hall.  Tickets are just £6 each and this price includes a large glass of wine or a soft drink.  The evening is a friendly, social event and has become very popular with locals and visitors. Current and upcoming films are advertised each month in the Bride Valley News and tickets may be obtained from Burton Bradstock Post Office or, if available, at the door on the night.

COMMUNITY LAND TRUST

Burton Bradstock Community Land Trust is registered as a Community Benefit Society with a Board of six local residents. We are searching for sites for small developments of affordable housing and we would like to encourage membership of the CLT to local people who are supportive of providing affordable homes for people with a strong local connection. The stated objectives of the Community Land Trust include holding land in trust for the community and providing housing for those in need, as well as helping to improve housing standards in the parish.

NATIONAL COASTAL INSTITUTION LYME BAY

NCI Lyme Bay is a recipient of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. If you are afloat within the Bay, walking the coastline or partaking in any water-based sport, National Coastwatch is there to do radio checks, give weather and tide information and keep an eye out for you. Unless the Watchkeepers are involved in an ongoing incident, visitors are welcome at the Hive Beach Lookout. Come and learn about the NCI charity and our work as a member of the Search & Rescue Emergency Services.

In the Village Hall through the winter the Society holds monthly talks on a wide range of subjects appealing to all tastes, with wine, tea and coffee available. The Society organises the Annual Flower and Produce Show, an annual outing to places of interest and is the driving force for most of the events which have occurred in the Village since its inception in 1974.

The Society own half the Freehold of the Village Post Office with the Parish Council.

VILLAGE VOLUNTEERS

The Volunteers objective is to keep our village looking beautiful, and serviceable. Since its inception in 2012, Burton Bradstock has been awarded runner-up in the Best Village Award - Dorset for 2012, Winner for same event in 2015, winner of an environmental award also in 2015, and first place for West Dorset Villages in 2018. The Volunteers work on behalf of the parish council, and are insured by them. They have purchased tools to use, which are stored centrally. Activities range from litter collection, gardening, planting, sowing wild flower seeds, weeding, painting, clearing leaves, trimming shrubs, clearing drains, sweeping gutters, clearing ditches, and a "Spring Clean" in April of each year. Volunteers choose what they wish to do.  The Volunteers meet twice a month, the first Thursday and third Tuesday for a morning's activity. As a Volunteer, you can choose how much you do. They usually meet at 9am, and work between two and three hours.  They are a very sociable group, and their efforts are recognised by local businesses, and sometimes rewarded!
